I am trying to identify/verify Depression Era Glass identification markers, or pieces with no marks.?
Must depression glass always be pink or green in color? And where is a good resource, (free) for the few markings I’m finding on these old glassware pieces. No real sets, just a bunch of onesies and twosies. Thanks for your help, and have a great day or night…life!
I collect Depression Glass, Early American Period Glass and American Brilliant Glass. You can buy any of these on Ebay and at good prices. You can also look for your patterns that have no markings, because others online may have the answer. I have found a few of mine that way. Also Depression glass comes in Amber, Vaseline, Clear, Pink, Blue alot of different colors. I just love this hobby and everytime I hold Old Glass in my hands, I always wonder how many people in the past years have also held it.
http://www.kovels.com is a good site. You can also find MANY good books on the subject at your local library.
Most depression glass is unmarked so don’t let that worry you. I recommend books by Barbara Mauzy or Gene Florence which your library can probably get. They have clear photos of the designs. Not all colored glass is depression glass and some depression glass is clear so it’s good to do a little research.
It’s such a fun hobby and gives us a connection with the past. I hope you continue to enjoy it.
